Public school is preferred by most families for the education of their children. There is no out-of-pocket cost, the children associate with the widest range of their peers and the state offers an adequate education. For a number of reasons, not all students are best served by public schools however, and to ensure the opportunity of an adequate education for everyone, having choices in which school to attend is important. I support all options including public schools, public charter schools, private schools, religious schools and home schooling. Parents and their children should have sole authority over the choice of school to attend. The state should work to encourage, or at least not discourage, growth for all types of educational opportunity.
